Suffering

Suffering

“Dear Master, for many years I’ve been wondering, why has God filled this Earth with so much pain and tears?”

“The thing is,” replied the Master, “that man is only able to comprehend certain things through suffering. Every soul has to go through this step on its way to becoming aware. However, this transition is relatively quick. When the soul goes through the necessary experiences for its growth, it won’t live in on a physical existence where there is much pain and difficulties any more. I smile when I see people trying to find the potion for eternal life, who want to live in the physical plane forever. They don’t know that they are in hell in the physical plane and only when we are free from our material form, can we live in heaven (the subtle plane). That’s where our true home is. We are here only to go through these intense lessons.”

“How can we learn the lessons faster and escape this plane?”

“Man’s main goal in God’s school is to learn how to love. People suffer through so many deprivations to learn how to be compassionate to other beings, to understand their suffering and pain. There is an expression, “Someone who has a full belly can’t understand what it feels like to be hungry.” There are so many misfortunes and difficulties in our lives so that we can learn how to be compassionate and help others. As soon as person learns how to not be apathetic, as soon as he stops laughing and making fun of others’ misfortunes, then his heart will become filled with mercy and kindness and will become free from the physical plane. If God sees that you have started to help people from the bottom of your heart, sincerely, without looking for recognition, then he will send you a state of grace and you will be happy. Then God will help you grow spiritually. However, if a person helps others and tries to negotiate with God, trying to demand rewards for himself and other people, then this means that he has not yet learned the lesson and has not yet learned to love truly, unconditionally. Life is difficult precisely so that a person can become wise.

Often excessive help and care destructively affects others. Especially we can see this in regard to raising children. If we deprive them of difficulties and responsibility, children grow into egoistic parasites. They become a form of punishment for their parents. By spoiling others we commit a sin because we allow weakness and vices to take root. Strictness and difficulties have the opposite effect — they allow a person to evolve and become more intelligent and orderly. This is another reason God created such difficult conditions for life — they prevent degradation. Often when a person becomes too comfortable, he will start degrading because his vices start consuming him. Many millionaires understand this and make their children work hard because “obstacles are blessings, they are conducive to growth.” And the most important thing is to help others achieve compassion, love, kindness and responsiveness. By doing this you can help save people from the clutches of life and lead them to freedom, to God. The foremost objective of life is to open the heart and live through it. So spread love, lead people to do good deeds, teach them compassion and mercy through your example.

You should also remember that 99% of suffering is fictional, created by a person’s sick imagination and negative emotions like jealousy, envy, anger, hurt, fear and agitation. It is important to teach people to eliminate this evil from their existence, to forgive them, to make light of it and know how to present the thoughts that give them suffering from a different perspective. This can be very arduous work to improve oneself and helps others do the same. You must eliminate all lies that give rise to negative emotions, all illusions, ideas, beliefs and opinions that create negative emotions. Without freeing yourself from this illusion of suffering, a person can’t evolve and become happy.

The only type of suffering that is healthy comes from pangs of conscious. These can help us wake up and learn how to follow and act out of truth. The conscious is the voice of God in our hearts and when we turn away from this voice, we turn away from God’s hand that can lead us to salvation.

A person’s life is full of bad habits. One shouldn’t be afraid of the suffering that comes from battling with these habits. Say someone is having a hard time quitting smoking or suffers from overeating. Overcoming these addictions, a person will live a healthier life. A person can’t be truly happy if he doesn’t have health. To reach this state he needs to courageously face temporary discomfort to overcome the evil within him.

The more egoistic a person is, the more we will suffer from negative people. This is punishment for his selfishness.

The result of any unconscious life is suffering. This is a incentive for the person to look for a solution, to wake up and learn how to trust God.”

“What’s the difference between imaginary negative emotions and real ones?”

“All emotions animals experience are real. Humans very rarely experience real emotions. For example, if a person you love leaves you, you will experience real negative emotions. However, if you start imagining that he or she leaves you, you will experience illusory emotions. You can imagine the scenario a thousand times and torture yourself with this image, but in reality, the person can only do it one time. This is an example of the imagination creating poison. You end up poisoning your own life and the life of the person you love because you become jealous and hurt over no real reason. You create it in your head. You start imagining that the person is doing something wrong, that he isn’t giving you enough attention, that he looked at someone else, etc. Then you start wanting to discuss the issue and start expressing your discontent, trying to figure out what he thinks about you. This can all lead to a real break-up. And the cause of it will be the disturbed imagination and the constant justification of negative emotions to yourself.

This is why you shouldn’t let your imagination run wild and should contain its activity. Worrying and thinking thoughts about yourself, about your illusory personhood, is the root cause of negative emotions and constant suffering. A person will be bombarded with fears, hurt and greed when he is obsessed with how people perceive him and what is happening to him. It’s best not to think about these things and to remain calm. You should try to think about other people instead, how you can help them. When you attune yourself with love and compassion, you will be filled with elevated emotions and God will favor you.
